Iowa High School Musical Theater Association honors North Students

IHSMTA HonorsOn Monday, June 2nd, the Iowa High School Musical Theater Association honored North High School’s fall production of the Addams Family. From left to right, dressed in black, Mayte Gomez-Cruz, Duncan Vivanh, Michael Xayavong, Rebekah Ostermann and Mercedes Castillo all were asked to perform in the annual awards night on the Civic Center stage. The Addams Family production was recognized for Outstanding Achievement in a scene/song with “Death is Just Around the Corner” and Outstanding Performance in a Lead Role. This honor was given to Senior Rebekah Ostermann for her role as Morticia Addams. North High was also honored for Excellence in Ensemble Work, Kameron James for Excellence in a Lead Role and Theatrical Upgrades. Over 400 students participated from surrounding high schools in this awards show. We are very proud to have these hard working and talented students represent North High and have the wonderful experience of working with 29 other Iowa high schools and their musical theater students.
