JROTC Marksmanship Championships

The North High School JROTC Marksmanship team traveled to Camp Perry, Ohio for the National Junior Olympic shooting Championships and the CMP National Championships.  Qualifying matches for the Junior Olympics were held at the state levels, the North shooters qualified for the national tournament by winning their 14th straight State Championship.  The North squad shot a 2171 to finish in  5th place, with Kevin Nguyen leading the way with a 557 and an individual finish at number 7, Sydney Krejci placed 15th overall.  Additional team members were Arturo Zaragoza and Ayden Wells.

The CMP National Championships were held the following day, qualifying began in January and the North squad traveled to Salt Lake City, Utah for the Regional Championships in April.  With a 3rd place finish at the Regionals, North punched its ticket to the Nationals. The North Squad shot a 2197-77 to end in a tie for 2nd with Volunteer High School from Tennessee but lost on the tiebreaker 2197-84 to end up as the 3rd place team.  Kevin Nguyen shot a 556 to continue his podium appearances by finishing number 8 overall for the championship, team members were Sydney Krejci , Arturo Zaragoza and Ayden Wells.
