North Students place at State Science Fair

Please congratulate these students on an amazing job at the State Science and Technology Fair of Iowa, yesterday at Hilton Coliseum. They have worked on their research since August. Students were judged for about 5 hours. Each presented to 10-12 judges. These judges were professionals, had their PhDs, and were from around the country.

  • Andria Kalifa: Sophomore, this was his first time presenting at SSTFI.
  • Genesis Trujillo-Lopez: Sophomore, this was her second time presenting at SSTFI. (placed last year)
  • Saata Corneh: Senior, this was her fourth time presenting at SSTFI. (placed her junior and senior year)

Saata earned 1st place in her category of Cellular and Molecular Biology. She also earned a $500 scholarship to UNI.

It is a huge accomplishment to qualify and in the end place at state! All the Science Bound teachers were involved in helping and guiding these students throughout the year while they did their research.
