Academic Decathlon Places 6th in Competition
Marva Collins said, “Success doesn’t come to you. You go to it.”
The students of the North High School Academic Decathlon team boldly went to success at this year’s state competition. Kalen Truong, Alex Alvarado-Barahona, Vera Snodgrass, Camille Gervais, Prithvi Jamadagni, Nathan Routh, and Emilio Coronel-Schakel were great representatives of the intelligence, friendliness, and determination that North High students possess.
This year, our team placed 6th overall in the state large division Academic Decathlon competition. We were the highest ranked DMPS school and placed 4th in the Super Quiz competition.
Many of our team members received individual recognition for their success in specific areas. Vera Snodgrass received the bronze medal in the very competitive honors division for speech. Nathan Routh took home a gold medal for his math score. Prithvi Jamadagni earned three gold medals this year – in essay, interview, and science.
Camille Gervais was our MVP! Her diligence in studying all year long earned her 5 medals – gold in art, music, language/literature, social studies and silver in math. She earned a very prestigious trophy as the overall top scorer in her division.
We are very proud of the accomplishments of North’s Academic Decathlon team. They did not wait for success to come to them. They went to success this year through hours of studying, helping one another, and growing together. Please congratulate them for their success this year!
